Dash & Dot

Brand identity and packaging for Dash & Dot.

Dash & Dot is an independent doughnut shop started by a brother and sister duo. When they were kids, their grandparents would reward them with doughnuts after their lessons for piano and dance. When their local doughnut shop closed, they had no choice but to learn the craft themselves. Now, their doughnuts are handcrafted with care every morning and pair wonderfully with their specialty coffee.

Inspired by the brother and sister duo who created Dash & Dot, I’ve created two mascots to represent the brand: diver Dash and dancer Dot. Each wears a doughnut but Dash’s represents an inflatable swim ring and Dot’s represents a tutu. Dash’s sprinkles are dashes and Dot’s are dots. They have their arms raised in a gymnast’s salute to show completion of their routine and gratitude to their audience.

The vintage-inspired colour scheme includes muted versions of lemon yellow, strawberry pink, vanilla beige and chocolate brown that feel reminiscent of the ’90s.

On the dozen box, the tagline “It’s a perfect 12!” is a reference to athletes in both sports traditionally striving for a “perfect 10”. Here, the “perfect 12” refers to the twelve doughnuts in the dozen box. The sides are lined with sprinkles made up of yellow dashes for Dash and pink dots for Dot.
