Asian Night Market Workshops
Set of posters for cooking workshops leading up to Asian Night Market.
In 2014, I designed the flyer for the Oberlin Korean Student Association’s workshop to teach fellow students how to make kimbap. I remade that flyer but expanded upon the idea to include other cooking workshops for onigiri and jiaozi that would be hosted by the Japanese Student Association and Chinese Student Association respectively. This series of workshops would be part of a weeklong programme of events leading up to the annual Asian Night Market.

Each poster depicts an aerial view of the workshop, featuring a variety of raw and cooked ingredients for the dish, as well as the dish itself. For the illustrations, I used a rough, scratchy brush for texture and to give a more casual and less polished feel, since the workshops would be taught by students and were meant to be fun and interactive for its participants.
The event information is contained in a box at the centre of the poster to draw emphasis, but written with the same rough brush as the illustrations so that the text looks harmonious with the illustration.
For all three posters, the illustrations are in the same style and the event information is presented in the same way to show that they form part of a series.
