Azariah’s

Brand identity for Azariah’s.

Azariah’s is a café located at the main library of Oberlin College, serving gourmet coffee, snacks and other refreshments. It is a popular spot on campus for students to study, attend a professor’s office hours or take a break with friends.

The logomark depicts a door within a scroll, as Azariah’s is a space both separate from and connected to the library. The café provides a change of scenery from the library’s stacks, but also displays periodicals and new releases that patrons can check out.

The logomark also repurposes the apostrophe in the logotype. Here it can be interpreted as a comma, since the café encourages students to take a pause from intense study, or as a quotation mark, to represent the many discussions held there.

The custom logotype is clean and modern, but the use of curved lines and loops gives it a fluid and dynamic feel. The colour palette consists of warm and comforting shades of cream, pumpkin, terracotta and brown, which can be found in the interior design of the café.
